Lluvia at Sunset

Overview

This photorealistic digital painting depicts “Lluvia,” a monumental bronze sculpture by Mexican artist Jovian. Installed on Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón in December 2020, Lluvia portrays a young man in swim trunks standing atop a plinth with his arms stretched wide, gazing upward as if embracing the rain .  The 3.5‑metre‑tall statue is the thirty‑fourth artwork placed along the edge of the sea ; its outstretched pose has earned comparisons to Christ the Redeemer and symbolizes the connection between humanity and nature .  According to Jovian, he named the piece “Lluvia” (“Rain”) to celebrate Puerto Vallarta’s spectacular rainy afternoons and designed the figure’s open arms as a gesture of welcome and inclusion—reflecting the city’s openness and diversity .  The sculpture stands near the Malecon Lighthouse at Galeana Street and has become a new icon in the Malecón’s open‑air art gallery.
